Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 20, 2026
This policy describes the data processed by the BeTrue – Fact Checker browser extension and the associated service.
Who we are
BeTrue (“we”) builds a browser extension that fact-checks tweets. Contact: team@getbetrue.com.
Data we process
- Account & authentication. Your email address and account identifier when you sign in (via Google or email/password). Purpose: to create and secure your account and manage your usage quota.
- Content you choose to check. The text of the tweet you submit by clicking “Checker”. Purpose: to run the fact-check and return a result. We do not automatically collect the tweets you read — only the texts you decide to check are sent to our service.
- Minimal technical data. Data strictly necessary for the service to work (a session token stored locally in your browser, technical API logs).
We do not collect your browsing history, your social-network passwords, or location data.
How this data is used
- Provide the fact-checking feature (analysis and results).
- Authenticate your account and enforce usage quotas.
- Improve the quality and reliability of the service.
We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising or for purposes unrelated to fact-checking.
Service providers
To operate the service, data may be processed by:
- Supabase — authentication and database.
- AI provider (Anthropic) — analysis of the submitted text for fact-checking.
- Hosting (Vercel) — API hosting.
These providers act only on our instructions and solely for this service.
Retention
- Session token: stored locally in your browser until you sign out.
- Account and analyses: kept for as long as your account is active.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, and deletion of your account, by emailing team@getbetrue.com.
Changes
This policy may be updated; the date at the top indicates the latest version.
